Stuff Christians Like - Book Review

So I just finished 'Stuff Christians Like' by Jon Acuff.  And by 'just finished' I mean like 4 minutes ago. This book, for those of you who are unfamiliar with it, is a smorgasbord of awesomeness.  Yea, I just said smorgasbord of awesomeness, you should try it sometime, it rolls of the tongue quite nicely.  But back to the book.

Acuff has an uncanny ability to find the MANY idiosyncrasies we Christians have.  His satire, sarcasm, and often profound truth telling are both hilarious and convicting at the same time...which is a rare combo.  On multiple occasions while reading the book I went from laughing out loud to deep, insightful thought in a split second.

The reader is instantly comfortable with Acuff because he comes across like 'one of us' , a normal dude with normal issues.

My favorite section of the book is the last section, where Jon shares some more serious points he's learned over the years.  And in this section it becomes clear that Jon's communication skills go well beyond comedy.  He has a gift for making profoundly deep thoughts resonate within the reader.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has a pulse.  You'll laugh (out loud), gain some perspective, and come away with a better understanding that God really, actually, truly loves us for who we are.
